Three Rivers Figure Skating Coaches

Three Rivers Figure Skating Club has a talented group of professional coaches ready to serve you. 

 

All coaches are a member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and comply with the US Figure Skating Association (USFSA) continuing education requirements.

 

Looking to get started in the sport of figure skating? Our coaches are ready to work with you.  Call or email a coach to learn more.  It is the responsibility of both the parent or the guardian and the coach to discuss fees and skating goals.

Home Club Coach

Patti is a Three Rivers Figure Skating Club Home Club Professional member, a Professional Skaters Association (PSA) member, and a US Figure Skating member. She is a PSA rated Master Moves in the Field, Certified Group, and Registered Freestyle Instructor and a US Figure Skating Category A Coach. Patti has been coaching skaters of all ages in both group and private lessons since 1997.

As a professional figure skating instructor, Patti provides proper technique in the areas of freestyle, moves-in-the field, choreography, off-ice training, stretching techniques, hockey, and beginner learn-to-skate.

MIKAYLA NELSON

Home Club Coach

Mikayla Nelson is a USFS Moves in the Field Gold Medalist and has passed her Novice Freeskate. She competed for 11 years through USFS and was a member of the University of Minnesota Hockey Cheer team. Mikayla is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and US Figure Skating Association. She has taught at the Brooklyn Park and Champlin Skating schools since 2011 including Snow Plow Sam, Hockey, Learn to Skate, Power Edges, and Summer Camp. As a private coach since 2014, Mikayla instructs skaters to improve their baseline skills and learn new skills. In addition, she assists skaters in preparing for USFS test sessions and competitions.

One of Mikayla’s coaching goals is to pass on her love of skating and believes it is important for her students to have fun while working hard to reach their own skating successes and goals. 

 

 


CASSIE NELSON

Home Club Coach

Cassie Nelson is a USFS Moves in the Field and Freestyle Gold Medalist.  She graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a B.A. in Psychology.  Cassie started skating at the age of 6, when she quickly found her love and passion for the sport and shortly after started private lessons and became a TRFSC member.  Throughout her 12 years of skating, she competed in a countless number of USFS competitions in the state of Minnesota.  She also is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and U.S. Figure Skating Association. Cassie has taught at Brooklyn Park and Champlin Skating Schools since 2013, including Snowplow Sam, Hockey Learn to Skate, Basic Skills, Theater on Ice, Freestyle, Summer Camp and in the Ice Show.  As a private coach since 2015, she has helped skaters prepare for USFS tests and competitions while sharing her techniques in the areas of choreography, moves-in-the-field, freestyle and off-ice training.

STEPHANIE FLETCHER

Home Club Coach

Stephanie began figure skating at age 5, adding regular lessons at age 10 at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center.  Over the years, she has enjoyed taking group lessons and private lessons as a member of USFS to pass her Junior Moves in the Field and Intermediate Freeskate tests along with competing and performing in ice shows.  Stephanie began coaching in high school, and found that she enjoyed passing on her love of skating to younger students.  While attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth, she joined the synchronized skating team and found a whole new excitement of skating with a team.  Stephanie continues to coach at the Brooklyn Park and Champlin Skating Schools, instructing students in Snow Plow through Senior Club, Hockey, and Theater as they grow to love their sport and was licensed in 2017 to begin coaching private lessons.

Brittyni Carlson

TRFSC Home Club Coach

Brittyni Carlson is a quadruple US Figure Skating Gold Medalist in Skating Skills, Singles, Compulsory Partnered Dance and Solo Free Dance.  Her testing credentials also include Preliminary Pairs.  Professionally, Brittyni has 18 years of coaching experience, including the last 9 years with the Valley Figure Skating Club (FSC) and the Greater Green Bay FSC, where she currently teaches on a full-time basis.  Brittyni has 5 years of experience performing as a professional ice skater, in which 4 of those years, she toured throughout Europe with Holiday on Ice (HOI).  During her employment with HOI and in between contracts she trained at the International Skating Academy in Utretcht, Netherlands.  Brittyni trained adagio/pairs in Australia under the direction of Olympic coaches and performed in various other shows throughout the US under multiple short-term contracts.  On top of her coaching credentials, Brittyni has 4 years of experience in aerial arts, specializing in lyra and silks.  She has been an instructor for Aerial Dance since 2020, as well as a Certified Cirqfit Lyra instructor and a professional lyra skating specialty act performer.  Brittyni also enjoys photography and running her Skating Inspirations craft boutique business.

Amy Brolsma

TRFSC Associate Coach

Amy Brolsma is a Double Gold Medalist in Figures and Freestyle and a Master Rated Figure Skating Professional in Moves in the Field and Freestyle.   She has taken multiple skaters from basic skills through the Senior tests in her 26 year coaching career.  Her skaters have competed at the Regional, Sectional and National levels.   She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis in Exercise Science to further her knowledge of the mechanics of skating.   She is also very active in the hockey community and has students from mites through the Junior levels, Division 1 schools and NHL.  She is a reoccurring presenter on the website ICoachSkating.com to help other coaches.  Amy coaches all level skaters sharing her love of the sport to all.
