About Us

Shortly after the Community Activity Center opened in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, our very first Club skaters began taking lessons at the rink. At the start, skaters were members of the Figure Skating Club of Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park rink.

In 1994, discussion began about starting our own club and soon, it was decided to make the break with FSC of Minneapolis. In the spring of 1995, the Brooklyn Park Figure Skating Club was formed. The club was officially recognized by US Figure Skating in May of 1996.

The Club started with 30 Home Club members and around twelve hours of ice per week. Today, we have over 150 Home Club members and over twenty-five hours of ice per week. The Club became a Minnesota Tax Exempt organization in 1996 and a Federal 501 (c)(3) Tax exempt organization in 2004.

The name of the Club was changed in July, 2008 to Three Rivers Figure Skating Club which better describe the geographic area our skaters come from. Our membership is drawn from 19 cities in Minnesota, with some as far away as Marshall, Minnesota, and Brookings, South Dakota.

Since inception, we have had over 700 members. Our Club skaters include both male and female, range in age four to adult, and skate at a variety of levels. Our skaters continually strive to improve their skills, test through levels and many compete at local and regional levels.

Our Coaches run the Basic Skills Program at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center, and the Club and its Coaches run the Basic Skills Program at the Ice Forum in Champlin as well. Our Coaches also teach Basic Skills in the Maple Grove Community Center Basic Skills Program.

We continue to welcome new members to our Club!

The Three Rivers Figure Skating Club (TRFSC) is a non-profit organization that has served the Twin Cities’ northwest suburbs since 1988. In furthering the sport of figure skating, it is the mission of the TRFSC to provide the necessary training programs and facilities to enable skaters to achieve their personal goals, encourage participation, and give guidance in the sport of figure skating. We endeavor to educate and inform the membership regarding figure skating, with an emphasis upon its pleasures, healthy aspects, and its value as an activity, which contributes to the development of fitness, self-discipline and character.
